Learn the Artwork’s Story: This work was created in collaboration with the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, Balboa Park to celebrate their similar 2-year challenge in building this massive HO scale model. It was completed by volunteers, in isolated teams, during the Global pandemic. This art piece signifies triumph and teamwork in the face of adversity for both past and present. This Original Watercolor painting was juried by famous Italian Art Voice Pierre Guidetti for his 2022 ‘Go Paint Art Show’ at the San Diego Watercolor Society in March 2022. The piece uses several mineral-infused watercolors including: Jade, Serpentine Genuine in the soft hills (see a green dot on the right side of the background), and Hematite in the strong rock face.
A Brief History of the Physical Location: An Engineering feat in its day, A train just over a half mile long of boxcars (shown here) will pass over itself going around the loop. It was constructed by the Southern Pacific RR (1874-1876) with about 3,000 Chinese workers using just hand tools, picks, shovels, horse-drawn carts, and blasting powder to cut through solid and decomposed granite that created this helix-shaped 0.72-mile loop.

The frame is matte black aluminum, plexiglass, archival quality mat, colors used 100+ year lightfastness, wire hanging system. All pieces are hand stamped with Artist’s Seal on the back. Our matting is a PPFA Class III high quality mat designed to provide the impact of a bright white bevel that has the same qualities of higher priced conservation matboard without the price.
The surface paper is buffered and lignin free. It has a high strength quality to minimize surface tearing during cutting.
This matting has one of the highest specifications in the market. The result is a superior mat that will stand the test of time, resisting the effects of acid degradation while remaining bright.

Known as a full-bleed framed print where there is no border backdrop and the image extends up to the frames inner edge for larger sized prints.
