ARTWORK’s Story: It’s nice to getaway! The San Diego ‘Trolley’ MTS can take you all over the city spanning 45 minutes north, south or east to beautiful nearby destinations. This art piece signifies Hope and Wonder. The transition from dark to light convey a passage of time as the trolley zips by overhead. This Original Watercolor painting was painted on location ‘en plein air’ in El Cajon, CA where the famous Taylor Guitar Company is headquartered minutes away. El Cajon marks the most eastern station for the local MTS. Piece juried by famous Italian Art Voice Pierre Guidetti for his 2022 ‘Go Paint Art Show’ at the San Diego Watercolor Society in March 2022. The painting uses several mineral-infused watercolors to include: Lapis Lazuli, Jade, Serpentine and Piemontite Genuine (see sky and foliage). Lapis Lazuli was prized in ancient civilizations and was used extensively in ancient Egyptian royal jewelry, think King Tut’s death mask. With this in mind, I wanted to create a luxurious vacation feeling of getting away through the depth and texture in the foliage.
Archival Properties: Original Watercolor using traditional and Mineral Infused Watercolors of Lapis Lazuli, Jade, Serpentine and Piemontite Genuine. (*From Paint Manufacturer, Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors: Lapis Lazuli mined in the mountains of South America, this gem-quality pigment is a subtle blue-grey, with a classic color that is light reflective, due to the irregular and angular shape of the pigment particles).
